Lilongwe, Malawi | 25th November 2024 ― The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) and the Government of Malawi have officially launched the construction of a 20 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Kanengo substation in Malawi's capital city, Lilongwe.
It is a compact and flexible ESS designed by SUVPR based on the characteristics of small C&I loads. The system integrates core parts such as the battery storage system, PCS, fire extinguishing system, temperature control systems, and EMS systems in one cabinet.
This landmark project, developed in partnership with Alfanar Projects, represents one of the largest BESS deployments in the Middle East and will play a pivotal role in advancing Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 by enhancing grid stability and renewable energy integration.
