The government, through the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition (MoEn>), has launched a major procurement initiative to deploy 200 megawatts (MW) of grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to enhance national grid stability and manage peak electricity demand. Integrating wind power, solar, and battery storage solutions to complement the thermal plants could provide a stable and reliable energy supply for the country. This study employs a mixed-methods approach to examine the adoption, performance, and barriers of current and emerging storage technologies. With an electricity access rate of 89% (2024), Ghana stands at a critical juncture to achieve universal energy access by 2030 through targeted grid expansion, distributed re er reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy. Survey data and stakeholder interviews reveal that.
