Photovoltaic (PV) panels have emerged as two promising technologies in this context, exhibiting immense potential to increase the rate of energy SC in residential buildings .
This technique incorporates dynamic modeling of battery degradation, supercapacitor behavior, converter hardware, and power management strategies. The study demonstrates that using HESS can enhance SC and SS ratios, extend battery life, and reduce lifecycle costs in various PV-energy storage system configurations.
Results indicate that battery capacities between 0.15 and 100 kWh can boost SC by 20–50%. For instance, a household with a 7 kWp PV system and 20 MWh annual consumption might need a 15–24 kWh battery, depending on its load profile.
